The Hospital was incorporated on 20th September 1987 as a private limited company and converted into public limited company on 12th October 1989. The construction activity to prepare the site for laying the foundation of the hospital was started in the beginning of 1988. The foundation ceremony took place on 6 October 1989 by the parents and relatives of the sponsors and their dedicated team of colleagues and well- wishers .Within three years and six months, the hospital’s Block-A structure of 65 ft. high with 70,000 square feet covered area.
The idea of developing a high class medical facility in Pakistan was conceived in New York, USA in the mid of 1985. The initiator Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, who had just finished his Internal Medicine Residency, called a meeting at his apartment in Brooklyn, New York on the weekend of July 20 & 21. Five professionals gathered there and discussed the idea in detail and approved it. The participants included Dr. Manzoor H. Qazi from Leesville, Louisiana, Mr. Muhammad Zahid from Kew Gardens, New York, Mr. Samiulla Sharief from Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Sabir Ali from Palm Bay, Florida besides the host. Dr. Zaheer Ahmad was asked to prepare the feasibility report and the action plan. Subsequently Dr. Zaheer Ahmad moved to Islamabad on December 17, 1985 to start the work on this project. |

THE VISION
The founding fathers of Shifa Foundation had already envisioned the establishment of a higher institute of learning when laying the first stone of the Shifa International Hospital. When the Shifa College of Medicine opened its door in December, 1998, It was the beginning of the realization of that vision.
PM & DC APPROVAL
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has given its approval to the SCM. SCM is affiliated with Bahria University, Islamabad.
POSTGRADUATE TRAINING
The PM & DC has already approved the Shifa International Hospital for house job training of medical graduates in Medicine, Surgery and Obs/Gynae. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan has given approval to the speciality of Medicine for training leading to FCPS qualification. A four year Residency Program commenced on July 1, 2000 in Medicine, Surgery, Obs/Gynae and Pediatrics. |

THE VISION
The Shifa College of Nursing, a leading nursing educational institute of Pakistan, is committed to providing nursing professionals outstanding facilities for education, practice and research.
The college dedicated to preparing nursing leaders and practitioners of international standards.
The teaching / learning opportunities for students is strengthened by the already existing facilities at SCM and SIH. The students have hands-on experience in critical care with the advanced technological facilities of SIH. The SCM library,laboratories, a/v aids and its faculty members add value to the program.

The mission of Shifa College of Nursing, to prepare nurses who are committed, caring and competent professionals, will enable these professionals to facilitate individuals, families and communities in meeting their health care needs.
PAKISTAN NURSING COUNCIL APPROVAL AND UNIVERSITY AFFILIATION
The Pakistan Nursing Council has inspected the Shifa College of Nursing for accreditation. Affiliation with Bahria University, Islamabad is under process.

| TAMEER-E-MILLAT FOUNDATION |

The Tameer-e-Millat Foundation (TMF) was established as not for profit organization in 1987, when a group of highly educated, patriotic Pakistanis living USA, realizing the gravity of the situation, decided to provide high standard educational facilities throughout Pakistan. TMF is of the view that the only way to lead our nation into the 21st century is through human resource development. Therefore, the mission of the Foundation is to provide Quality Education with Character Building for a larger number of youths without any discrimination to their gender, race, religion, class, or place of origin or residence, in all the areas of professional and academic disciplines.
The organization is a duly registered body: it got registered under the Societies Act XXI of 1860 on 23rd November 1992 and further registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Act 1961 on 19th October 1999. Since TMF is a charity organization based on indigenous resource mobilization, so at the outset it based its activity mainly on volunteer effort. All the decisions relating to the planning and implementation of the projects are being taken by the Board of Governors (BOG). The BOG is the main strength of the Foundation, which provides policy guidelines to the management at various levels. |
